Terms and Conditions

The following terms and conditions apply to all nominees of the spotlight awards . By accepting your nomination, you agree to abide by these terms:


1. Eligibility
- Nominees must meet all eligibility criteria outlined in the nomination process.
- All nominees must be South African citizens or residents, or their work must have a significant impact in South Africa.
- Only individuals or groups who have been officially shortlisted are considered nominees. 
2. Nomination Acceptance
- By accepting the nomination, nominees consent to their name, image, and work being used in promotional materials related to the awards.
- Failure to confirm acceptance within the specified timeframe may result in disqualification.
3. Accuracy of Information
- Nominees must ensure that all personal and professional information provided during the nomination process is accurate and up to date.
- False or misleading information may result in disqualification.
4. Promotion and Publicity
- Nominees agree to participate in promotional activities, including interviews, photoshoots, and media appearances, as required by the organizers.
- Spotlight awards reserves the right to use nominee-related content (images, videos, etc.) for marketing and promotional purposes. 
5. Voting
- Voting runs for a period of 60 days 
- Voting is conducted via SMS and online voting. 
5.1 SMS Voting
- SMS votes must be sent to 47439, with each SMS costing R3. Free SMSs do not apply.
- Each SMS equals one vote.
- To vote, the public must SMS the nominee's keyword to 47439 (e.g, SMS sa 000 to 47439) sms cost Keywords vary from province to province 
- Nominees must ensure that the SMS cost of R4 is clearly stated in all their campaigns for votes. 
5.2 Online Voting
- Details and guidelines for online bulk voting will be provided on the official spotlight Awards website and communication channels.
6. Promotional Artwork
- Nominees must use only promotional artwork provided by the spotlight awards  team. Unauthorized modifications or use of external designs are strictly prohibited. 
7. Conduct
- Nominees are expected to uphold professionalism and integrity throughout the awards process.
- Any behavior deemed inappropriate, harmful, or in violation of the spotlight awards values may lead to disqualification.
8. Judging and Voting
- The selection of winners will be determined by a combination of public votes and a judging panel’s decision, as outlined in the awards guidelines.
- The decision of the judging panel is final and cannot be appealed.
9. Intellectual Property
- Nominees retain the rights to their work; however, by accepting the nomination, they grant spotlight awards the right to feature excerpts of their work in relation to the awards.
- Nominees must ensure they own or have the rights to any content submitted for consideration.
10. Awards Ceremony Attendance
- Nominees are required to attend the awards ceremony in person or have a representative attend on their behalf.
- Failure to attend or send a representative will result in a 3-month waiting period to claim any prizes, trophies, or certificates. Absent Winners will be contacted within 72 hours after the award ceremony 
- During this period, the spotlight Awards team is not responsible for storing or maintaining unclaimed items.
11.Disqualification
-Spotlight awards reserves the right to disqualify any nominee who fails to comply with these terms or engages in conduct that brings the awards into disrepute.
12. Changes to Terms
- Spotlight awards reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Nominees will be notified of significant changes.
13. Limitation of Liability
- spotlight awards and its organizers are not responsible for any loss, damage, or injury sustained by nominees during their participation in the awards process.
14.Requirements from WASPA:

LogicSMS is a member of WASPA and is bound by the WASPA Code of Conduct. Customers have the right to approach WASPA to lodge a complaint in accordance with the WASPA complaints procedure. LogicSMS may be required to share information relating to a service or a customer with WASPA for the purpose of resolving a complaint. WASPA web site: www.waspa.org.za
LogicSMS has the right to suspend or terminate the services of any customer who does not comply with these terms and conditions or any other related contractual obligations.
LogicSMS has the right to take down any content (hosted as part of the service) that it considers illegal or for which it has received a take-down notice.
 Cellphone Compatibility
A Cell Phone registered on a South African network with access to SMS capability cellphone will need a SMS application and sufficient airtime. Free SMS/airtime does not apply
The service wont be used by Mzansi arts and media awards to intentionally engage in illegal conduct ,to knowingly create, store or disseminate any illegal content, to knowingly infringe copyright ,to knowingly infringe any intellectual property rights, or to send spam or promote the sending of spam
The terms and conditions for any service must not contain clauses that contradict the requirements of the WASPA Code of Conduct
The service must only be used with the permission of the bill-payer (for paid services)
The service must only be used with the permission of a parent or guardian (for children’s services)

15. Acceptance of Terms
